Don’t count your pets out if you are laying out your emergency plans for you and your family. June is Pet Preparedness Month – dedicated to ensuring you are prepared with the information and items needed in case of an emergency.
Here is a basic checklist of what you should start to think about:
Where are the pet-friendly hotels and motels on your evacuation route?
Do you have extra pet food? (They may get sick if they are eating food other than their regular diet)
Are they vaccinated? If so, which ones?
Are they on any medication?
Do they wear a collar?
How would you identify them? Keep a picture of your pets on hand.
